Background: AUS is the fifth school where I’ve had the privilege of teaching during my 19 years in education. I’ve been fortunate to teach English at every grade level in the secondary school system. My teaching journey has taken me from the glitz and glamor of Las Vegas to the challenging schools of Seoul and Shanghai. My most recent position was in Bellevue, Washington, USA, a hub for more tech companies than can be counted. 
I enjoy teaching middle school because it’s a unique environment where we help students become productive individuals while teaching them content. The middle school years are exciting as we witness students transition from children to young adults. We guide them as they figure out how they want to move forward. I enjoy leading them on this journey, making as many connections as possible between what we learn in class and how they can apply it outside the classroom. There are two major ideas that I emphasize in my class. The first is about relationships, where I encourage students to build each other up rather than tear each other down. The second idea revolves around reaching their full potential, inspired by a Lenny Kravitz song: 'If you want it, you got it / You just got to believe / Believe in yourself.' 
I am a proud father of three wonderful children. My oldest is a videographer for NASA, and my other two are students at AUS. I love reading anything that tells a story and enjoy building with my hands, whether it’s LEGO, puzzles, or furniture. I am excited to be part of AUS because it allows me to immerse myself in a culture and region of the world that is new and full of wonder.

Background: Greetings! My name is Courtney Skeete. I have seven years of experience teaching middle and high school students in ELA and Social Studies in the U.S. and Kuwait. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, I hold an Education Specialist degree in Instructional Technology, a Master's in Teaching with a concentration in ELA and Social Studies, and a Bachelor's in Psychology. 
I moved to Kuwait three years ago and am thrilled to join the AUS family. I am passionate about fostering inquiry-based learning to drive instruction. Background: Hi, I am so excited to join the AUS family. I have twenty-three years of experience teaching middle school in the United States. Subjects I have taught include German, World Cultures, 6th Grade Geography, 7th Grade Social Studies, and 8th Grade U.S. History. Learning about other people, how they live, and our global connections fascinates me, and I strive to instill that curiosity in my students. Therefore, I draw upon my experiences and the experiences of my students to enrich our learning environment. I look forward to making connections with my students and helping them achieve their goals. I believe it is important to connect with students outside of the classroom. I coached cross country and was the student council advisor. I also held several leadership positions including Social Studies Department Chair, and served on the School Leadership Team, PBIS Team, and the Building Improvement Committee.

Background: My journey in education began in Jamaica, where teachers were revered for their societal role. This admiration inspired me to pursue a career in education, driven by a passion for helping others learn. I started my formal training at the University of the West Indies Mico Teachers College, majoring in Social Studies Education K-12. After earning a Bachelor's in Education, I taught at various levels in Jamaica, gaining invaluable experience. This strong foundation prepared me for the transition to the Cayman Islands, where I taught 6th grade, adapting to a new educational system and further honing my teaching skills. 
My pursuit of new challenges and broader horizons led me to the U.S., where I taught and coached middle school students in various states. This experience not only expanded my teaching expertise but also sharpened my adaptability to diverse educational systems and student needs. During this period, I completed a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Political Science at Florida Atlantic University, earning certification to teach World and U.S. History K-12. The coaching experience was equally rewarding, as I led track and field and cross-country teams to state-level competitions, instilling discipline and a strong work ethic in student-athletes. 
Three years ago, I earned a Master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from Grand Canyon University, further enhancing my ability to support students whose first language is not English. My educational philosophy centers on 'carpe diem,' encouraging students to seize every learning opportunity. 
As a proud parent of three, an avid hiker, and a gym enthusiast, I find joining AUS particularly exciting. I’ve been an adviser for the student government and for the young campus journalists. I was a soccer coach for our school’s soccer team.

Background: With more than a decade of experience in education, I have taught biology, ecology, and math. In my years of teaching in the United States, most of my experience has been in the upper middle school grades. Three of my teaching years were spent teaching biology and ecology to high school students. During my tenure in the United States, I have been voted teacher of the year by my colleagues, which I am proud of. In my spare time, I like to spend time with my wife of many years, learn new things, travel, watch movies, listen to music, and play videogames. Background: I began my teaching career in physical education and simultaneously coached volleyball, basketball, track and archery for 8 years. After interacting with students in our foreign exchange program, I became curious about other countries. My first time abroad was in Taipei, Taiwan where I spent 2 years teaching conversational English in the city’s English Villages. My next country was Saudi Arabia. I taught elementary school in Dammam, Saudi Arabia for 3 years. During my final year in Dammam, I served as an assistant principal for upper elementary (grades 4-6).  I’m continuously advancing my education through ongoing professional development. 
As a traveling teacher, I enjoy learning about other cultures, interacting with different people, and exploring the beauty of each country.

I moved and transferred in the city and was absorbed as a Chemistry college instructor in a university for two years. After getting married in the year 2000, I took the challenge to serve the Philippine government through the Department of Education where I handled high school chemistry/science subjects for more than 15 years. Prior to my coming here to AUS, I was promoted as school head and supervised a secondary school for five months. I like being a classroom teacher where I can share and impart my expertise in a learner-centered environment.

Background: I taught for three years in the United States before I joined American United School of Kuwait. I started my career as a high school math teacher, but I have since moved to middle school and I am thrilled to be able to help each of my students grow. I met my wife here in Kuwait, and we have enjoyed 4 years together since we became married. When I'm not spending time with my wife, I like to spend my free time playing video games. In the classroom, I see myself as a guide for my students so that they can explore their own pathways in math, while I facilitate their growth as mathematicians in a safe and positive classroom environment.

Background: I started my professional career in the field of education in 1996. In my 26 year experience, I spent the first 14 years teaching a variety of subjects including Mathematics, Business Studies, History, French and Computers. I have experience teaching various levels from grade 2 to 12 with the Ontario (Canada) curriculum. I also have experience with the British and American curriculum while teaching in Kuwait for 5 years from 1998 to 2003.  I spent 12 years as a Vice Principal for both elementary and secondary Canadian schools, and finally for the last 4 years, I was a Principal of a Canadian High School. 
I’m very excited to be returning to Kuwait, but this time with my lovely family and especially returning to my first passion, which is teaching my favorite subject, Mathematics. Every year I grow professionally and learn so much. Looking forward to showing my students how fun and important math is in every aspect of our life!

Background: I am an experienced and highly effective French language and literature teacher with more than a decade of classroom experience in both private and public schools in Tunisia and Kuwait.
I began my teaching career in middle and high public schools in Tunisia. After Which I was taught for 4 years at an all-girls private school. I joined the Ministry of Education in Kuwait, which was a new experience for me, teaching French in a non-French-speaking country. This role required me to operate within a dynamic and to focus on developing exciting and engaging learning experiences for my students. Most recently, before joining AUS, I taught within the French Education system in Kuwait. I have a true passion to help each child progressing in all areas of their development-academic, social, language, art, and motor-it is a challenge and one that I am honored to accept daily. I am proud to share a strong track record for improving test scores and teaching effectively. I credit this success to my sincere love and respect for my students, their families, and my colleagues.
Apart from my passion for education, I enjoy making epoxy and painting arts, reading, exercising, and traveling.  I look forward to getting more experience in the United American School and sharing my knowledge with my students.

Background: “You will be a great teacher one day’’ my High School Arabic teacher once told me. These words inspired me to study Education at Damascus University, Faculty of Arts. After graduation, I taught elementary school in Deraa, Syria. I started my beloved career in Kuwait in 2007, where I taught both Arabic for Native Speakers and Arabic as a Foreign Language. Training is my free time hobby, so I like to feel the changes we can do for others. Nelson Mandela said: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” This quote changed my mind toward teaching, which is not just a job, but a tool to prepare new people to build new theories for their life. Teaching Arabic Literacy and helping kids Reading and Writing Arabic is my life’s work. Finally, I believe that education is a continuous process and non-stop building.

With over 13 years of laboratory experience in Research and Development and Product Compatibility, I am eager to teach and inspire students to love science and become responsible global citizens. I began my teaching career nearly three years ago with the goal of creating a learning environment where students can collaborate to solve real-world problems. I believe that all students are capable of learning and that each one plays an integral role in the classroom experience. If you can’t walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving.'

In my professional career as an educator I instructed and oversaw an american PE curriculum from Gr 1-12 as well as coaching Volleyball, Basketball and Soccer. From 2016 to date, I also co-partnered a youth sports academy and I oversaw the Soccer and Basketball Academies. My specialty is students wellness and personal coaching.

Background: I began my teaching career in Romania immediately after I graduated and in 2007, I had the opportunity to start my international teaching experience at an school in Bahrain where I taught Physical Education from Pre-K all the way to 9th grade and coached the athletics, swimming and gymnastics teams. After 6 years I moved to the UAE where I continued teaching and coaching for 5 years. Background: Coming from a family with a musical tradition in teaching and composing vocal music, I felt empowered and motivated to discover very early that human voice is the ultimate instrument. Additionally, interaction through music is one of the most essential activities for every community. I've started my career in Romania at Ovidius State University where I taught for 7 years harmony, music history, music analisys and choir, participated in a national research grant, published music reviews and founded the choral group Voces Felices. In 2010 I moved oversears with my family to Saudi Arabia where I taught grade 3 to 12 music for 4 years. After my 2nd daughter was born in Jeddah we decided to move and explore China where I taught choir, guitar and coached swimming. Background: This is my 41st year in education! I have taught for two years in China, three years in Saudi Arabia, 11 years in the UK and 24 years in Kuwait. As an art teacher, I believe that creativity is inherent in all of us—creating art is a deeply human experience, and we are all artists in our own way. There are countless ways to express ourselves visually, and each is valid. While some people may have a natural talent, art skills can be taught, and creative expression should be nurtured. I believe that making art is fun, and if it doesn’t feel that way, perhaps you just haven't found your unique approach yet! I deeply cherish the relationships I build with my students and enjoy getting to know them as individuals. Art is not something that should be created only by a select few; it is something that can be enjoyed by everyone. 
Outside of school, I am a mom of two wonderful girls, a step-mom to a great son, and married to Loren Digges, who also teaches at AUS. We share our home with a lovely dog named Wicket. I love to read, swim, create ceramic art, and explore new places through hiking and walking. I am passionate about our planet and enjoy learning about the incredible flora and fauna that inhabit it, as well as the diverse cultures and people we share this world with. My career took a meaningful turn when I began freelancing at an educational institution. This role allowed me to work closely with students, sparking my passion for the education sector and inspiring me to pursue a full-time position in this field.

Background: I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to begin this new journey to serve AUS students, parents, and educators as an Instructional Coach. My name is Dr. Patra Wiley Smith, and I have been an educator for over thirty years. I have worked in one of the top ten school districts in the United States for over thirty years. My career path has allowed me to implement multiple instructional programs promoting academic achievement, equity, and access for all students. My roles have ranged from classroom teacher to site-based administrator, district-based administrator, and Program Manager. 
During my career, I have been the Program Director for five Gaining Early Awareness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) grants. The grants were multi-million-dollar federal grants for a university as well as my school district. My responsibility has included being a math teacher, department head, coordinating the implementation of Springboard mathematics for grades 6-12, and District Director for Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID). I have worked as a consultant nationally and internationally for the State of Florida, the College Board, and the National Council for Community Education (NCCEP), focusing on facilitating professional learning sessions that support educators and leaders in best practices for all students to be successful academically and socially and emotionally. Lastly, I advocate for all students and parents by supporting them in formulating a plan for their child after graduation. Background: Hi! My name is Pete, and I am excited to continue my journey as part of the AUS team. I bring seven years of teaching experience from the Philippines, where I developed a deep passion for education. My career began with three years as a Grade 1 teacher and two years as a university instructor at the same institution. I then spent a year as a Grade 6 teacher before dedicating three years to teaching multiple grades (K-Grade 2) with the Philippine Department of Education, where I also assumed the role of school-in-charge.
Since 2017, I have been working as an instructional coach. This role has allowed me to further my commitment to empowering educators and supporting teachers in helping AUS students reach their fullest potential. I am deeply inspired by the transformative power of education and am dedicated to supporting teachers in their mission to nurture and develop our students. My love for travel and learning about diverse cultures inspired me to pursue a Ph.D. in Educational Management.

Background: It is my passion for knowledge and determination to turn information into action that has contributed to my career in Science. My teaching journey commenced in 2002 when I took on the role of a preschool teacher. Prior to that, my focus had been on computer technology, and I had been working in the computer field. My initial experience in education involved a year of preschool teaching, followed by three years as a preschool coordinator. 
Subsequently, I transitioned to teaching English to 5th graders and Science to students in 6th and 8th grades for a year. My career path then led me to Kuwait, where I taught in elementary school for four years and served as a coordinator for an additional two years. During this time, I had the privilege of instructing students from diverse cultural backgrounds. This invaluable experience laid the foundation for my journey at AUS. 
Since becoming a member of the AUS community, I've had the privilege of fulfilling various roles within the realm of science education. Initially, I assumed the position of the science lab instructor at the Elementary school, guiding students through their scientific explorations. Later, as a science teacher for both Elementary and Middle school students. 
Taking on the role of Science Coordinator and contributing to the AUS Curriculum and Instruction team, my primary objective is to provide unwavering support to educators. Specifically, my focus lies in assisting teachers with the implementation of the FOSS program. By doing so, my aim is to empower students to reach their utmost potential in the field of science.  
During my leisure hours, I find delight in activities such as painting, engaging in various forms of art and craft, and embarking on journeys of travel and exploration.
