Meet our Dean of Students

Ovella Roberts

Greetings! I am thrilled to begin working with the Staff, Scholars, and Families at AUS as the Dean of Students for Middle and High School. I have over 20 years of experience in education, working in multiple positions.
I started my career in Rochester, New York, as a 6th-grade teacher, teaching all subjects. I then moved to Atlanta, GA, where I taught all grades in Elementary and Middle School. After 15 years, I began my journey in Special Education, working as a Learning Specialist in Middle School, teaching all content area subjects, an RTI Specialist for Middle School, and, over the last three years, a founding Middle School Assistant Principal for the Special Education Department.
It is my passion to create a learning environment where students feel valued, respected, and motivated to achieve their personal best, and where teachers feel supported, trusted, and empowered to inspire excellence. I believe that when students and educators are equally encouraged, equipped, and celebrated, the entire school community thrives.
“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” (Maya Angelou) This is a quote I live by and teach my students.
