Meet our Dean of Students

Ovella Roberts

Greetings! I am super excited to begin working with the Staff and Scholars at AUS as a Secondary Dean of Students.  This is my 20th year in education working multiple positions.  I started my career in Rochester, New York as a 6th grade teacher teaching all subjects.  I then moved to Atlanta, Georgia where I taught all grades in Elementary and Middle School.  After 15 years, I began my journey in Special Education working as a Learning Specialist in Middle School teaching Reading/Language Arts, Math and Social Studies, RTI Specialist for Middle School, and over the last three years, an Assistant Principal for the Special Education Department. 
It is my passion to meet scholars where they are and build their critical thinking and learning capacity so they can explore any opportunity and experience all of their dreams.  “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” (Maya Angelou) This is a quote I live by and teach my students.
