Meet our Principal

Joshua Henry

I am both excited and grateful for the opportunity to serve as the Elementary Principal at AUS. My journey to school leadership has been driven by a deep commitment to Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), Servant and Transformational Leadership, and a passion for promoting creativity, innovation, and excellence. I believe in creating a safe haven within the school where every member of the community feels valued and supported.

Throughout my career, I've been dedicated to building the capacity of both students and teachers, empowering them to persevere and overcome any obstacle in the classroom and beyond. My approach is rooted in fostering strong, collaborative relationships and implementing research-based best practices that enhance effective classroom instruction and curriculum implementation, from early childhood through upper elementary grades.

Since joining AUS in 2017, I have had the pleasure of serving as an Instructional Coach and Assistant Principal in the elementary department. Working with a diverse staff and student population has been a privilege, allowing me to engage with some of the most talented and intellectually gifted individuals. Together, we've cultivated an environment that encourages continuous learning and growth for everyone involved.

Before AUS, I taught upper elementary students in the Dallas Independent School District and served as a Vice Principal at Trinity Basin Preparatory School in Dallas, Texas. These experiences have deepened my commitment to educational leadership and my love for working with the entire school community.

I am originally from Kaufman, Texas, and my wife, Deshia, is also part of the AUS family, teaching as a Pre-K teacher. We have two sons named Aiden and Jackson. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, exploring different cultures, watching sports, and trying new cuisines from around the world. I look forward to leading and expanding my knowledge in this role, working alongside our community to create a thriving, supportive, and innovative learning environment.
