Background: Teaching for me is more than just a career, it is an opportunity to partake in the growth and development of our future leaders, teachers, and critical thinkers. Over the past 14 years, I have taught both primary and middle school within all 3 systems: public, private and semi-private.

I am excited and fortunate to be given the opportunity to apply my experiences from each system, my lifelong learnings and my expertise within the classroom at AUS.

In my free time, I enjoy watching my 3 children play sports. Whether it is hockey or baseball, I am there cheering them on!

I began my professional career teaching at the same middle school in Atlanta, Georgia that I attended as an adolescent. My former teachers became my colleagues and I was able to learn many strategies that make learning conducive for students. I am a former gymnast, I love yoga, I play the saxophone, and I have many other constructive talents including helping students achieve growth.

In 1984 at the age of 14 my family moved across the world to Kuwait. I attended and graduated from the American School of Kuwait in 1988.
I am very fortunate and excited to begin a new chapter working with some of Middle and High School students here at AUS. I am eager to help students broaden their education and worldview through art practices and history of all genres. It is my ultimate goal to help each learner at any skill level to achieve a sense of personal pride in their work and to be on their way to an art-literate adult.

Background: Following my undergrauate degree, I attended the University's graduate program in Theater for Youth. There I studied puppetry, playwriting, and directing plays for young adults. I left Hawaii and moved to the east coast of the United States and attended attended the University of Rivier in Nashua, New Hampshire. It was there I obtained my teaching certification in General Special Education. I have over 18 years of classroom teaching experience and have worked with a diverse population of students and have taught a variety of Drama classes; such as, art performance, performance poetry, and performing literature and poetry. Lastly, I have also performed in and directed numerous productions for children and young adults. I am excited and delighted to now be a part of the AUS community. In the years prior to arriving at AUS, I traveled as an international instructor teaching seminars on Multi-Cultural Education and Global Citizenship.

Throughout my career, I have worked on many committees to develop curriculum, organize new teacher training, create professional development opportunities for co-workers and promote teacher wellness. Due to my great love of sport, I have also dedicated my time to coaching many Middle and High School Ice Hockey and Badminton teams during my career. Background: Since becoming a Spanish teacher more than 10 years ago, I have had the pleasure of sharing my love of the Spanish language and culture with thousands of students. I have lived in Argentina and Brazil, and am fluent in Portuguese, in addition to Spanish. Besides acquiring new languages and travelling, I enjoy playing the guitar and reading. My passion is guiding my students towards proficiency in the Spanish language by facilitating meaningful communication in the classroom.

I’ve also served on the committee selecting new teachers – DBS.

My favorite sports are football, table tennis, and volleyball.

Following this, I moved to Kuwait and taught at a school (Cambridge), then I taught at the American Creativity Academy School for Boys, and lastly I worked at the center for strengthening and teaching children until I reached my current status of working in the American United School of Kuwait as a teacher. Background: Professeur Delamatta was born in the United States but grew up in France. His love of languages and culture have been an important influence in his studies as well as his professional path. He has been teaching French & English for over 20 years, to both native speakers as well as foreign languages. He has taught in Africa, France, back to the United States, and now on his 4th continent in Kuwait. He has taught middle school, high school, and at the community college level. He has been a French Language & Culture AP Reading since 2007.
He has a passion for theater. He has done extensive research, writing, and presented professional papers on Tunisian Theater at professional conferences such as the NEMLA annual Conference. He has written two bilingual plays which were produced in France.
He enjoys photography, year round swimming as well as scuba diving when the opportunity presents itself. He came to AUS in January 2018.

Background: After spending five years as a Secondary English/Language Arts teacher in Washington, D.C., I transitioned to the role of Special Education Coordinator, a position I held for two years. In addition to English/Language Arts, I have had the opportunity to teach STEM integration to 1st and 2nd grade students and a Technology course for adults. I believe in curriculum and instruction that centers on collaboration and creativity to motivate students of all ages and abilities.
