Degree(s): Master of Arts in Education major in English Language Teaching- Philippine Normal University, Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English- Philippine Normal University
Hometown: Jones, Isabela, Philippines
Background: With great dedication and perseverance, I immediately entered the world of teaching right after graduating from college in 2010. I had been an English as a Second Language (ESL) and English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Teacher in Monol International Education Institute in Baguio City and in Academia Language and Review Center in San Juan City, Metro Manila where I taught Korean, Turkish, and Japanese students from all levels. Through that experience, I was able to adapt, enjoy, and love cultural diversity and certainly, it made me discover different teaching styles suited for individual learners with different pace and background. After two years, I worked in one prominent catholic school in the Philippines, the University of Perpetual Help, where I was assigned in the Secondary level as an English Teacher. Also, during my stay, I was given teaching loads in the college level where I taught Mass Communication subject. Moreover, I had been a Public School Teacher where I taught kindergarten, lower and upper elementary grades, and senior high school students. What made my stay in the regular schools extraordinary are the challenges and learning that brought by different tasks and responsibilities like handling the school paper publications, coaching in the field of journalism and broadcasting, managing immersion courses in the SHS department, actively working as a research/thesis adviser, and performing the duties of a Grade 12 curriculum chairman. Multitasking cum flexibility is truly a bullet in targeting success. Furthermore, the different seminars, training, and workshops I attended which mainly focused on the 21st century teaching strategies, methods, and techniques with my degree in the graduate school boosted my confidence as an educator and equipped me the skills and knowledge demanded by this fast-paced generation. Thus, my sincere gratitude to AUS for this promising opportunity where I can share and learn at the same time. Definitely a better choice!
