The American United School opened its doors to the students of Kuwait in September of 2013. Our mission is a co-educational private school, combining 21st century digital technology and traditional student-centered learning practices to ensure that students achieve academic success and social growth. Supporting the mission of a 21st century school, AUS established a 1:1 tablet program for all grade levels. In kindergarten, our students have in classroom access to tablets. In grades 1 through 5, students are provide tablets for use at school and at home.
Technology instruction follows the standards established by the International Society of Technology in Education, known as the ISTE Standards. These standards are grade specific and supports students throughout the educational process. ISTE standards identify grade-level appropriate informational and technological benchmarks.
The entire AUS family of students, staff, and parents have access online to the Portal. Real-time information about grades, calendars, notifications, attendance, and communications are available through the Portal. AUS also incorporates Google Apps for Education, a suite of free productivity tools for classroom collaboration. A wide variety of new and ever-changing educational resources exist to support teaching and learning. A few resources implemented at the AUS elementary school are Raz-Kids for fun and engaging reading support, IXL for dynamic and adaptive practice in math and language arts, and ClassDojo for building positive classroom communities.
